The guy\u2019s got a tear trigger like no other\u2014Trisha could serve him mashed potatoes, and he\u2019d be choking up like it\u2019s the most emotional thing he\u2019s ever tasted. But don\u2019t let that distract you; Chris absolutely nailed it, bringing everyone in that room to their feet with a performance that left no dry eye in sight."},"content":{"rendered":"

Then again, it\u2019s Garth Brooks we\u2019re talking about here\u2026 the man cries at the drop of a hat. I mean,\u00a0Trisha<\/strong> starts pulling a tater tot casserole out of the oven and you can already picture Garth attacking the Kleenex box like a rabid hyena.<\/p>\n

That being said, I don\u2019t want to take anything away from Chris\u2026 it was the kind of performance that moved the whole room.<\/p>\n

Back in March of 2020, Garth was chosen to receive the Library of Congress Gershwin Prize for Popular Song, which was presented to him during a tribute concert featuring performances from Keith Urban, Lee Brice, Ricky Skaggs, Keb Mo, his wife Trisha Yearwood, and of course, the great Chris Stapleton.<\/p>\n

And let\u2019s just say that Chris really brought it\u2026<\/p>\n

Chris Stapleton Steals The Show<\/h2>\n

Chris Stapleton took the stage to perform Garth\u2019s 1991 hit single \u201cShameless,\u201d which was originally written and recorded by\u00a0Billy Joel<\/strong>\u00a0a couple years prior. Chris earned himself a standing ovation from everybody in attendance, and a couple of tear-soaked eyes from Garth himself.<\/p>\n

My only regret is that we don\u2019t have a camera on Garth the entire time. I would love to get a little split screen action going\u2026 listening to Chris and watching every single emotion fill Garth\u2019s face in real time. In fact, the next time we honor Garth Brooks with some kind of lifetime achievement award, that needs to be priority number one. I mean, who wouldn\u2019t pay to watch that?<\/p>\n
