William Martin, the vice president’s communications director, confirmed that the recording is not authentic and was generated using AI technology. He stated, \u201cMost certainly not the Vice President,\u201d and shared a link to a post that has since been removed.<\/p>\n

Vance also addressed the issue on X, stating, \u201cIt\u2019s a fake AI-generated clip. I\u2019m not surprised this guy doesn\u2019t have the intelligence to recognize this fact, but I wonder if he has the integrity to delete it now that he knows it\u2019s false. If not, it could be defamation. I guess we\u2019ll find out!\u201d<\/p>\n

The rise of AI-generated content has led to an increase in false audio and video material, and this particular clip featured poor sound quality and distortion. It lacked clarity regarding its origin and raised questions about how a random social media account could possess a private recording of the vice president, which is highly unlikely.<\/p>\n

The video appears to have originated from a TikTok account named Joseiitalia, where it garnered 1.5 million views before spreading to X, where it received over 500,000 views, and was shared across various Reddit threads. In the recording, the individual impersonating Vance makes disparaging remarks about Musk, claiming, \u201cEverything that he\u2019s doing is getting criticized in the media, and he says that he\u2019s helping and he\u2019s not, he\u2019s making us look bad.\u201d The voice also states, \u201che\u2019s making me look bad,\u201d and \u201che has the audacity to act like he is an elected official. I am an elected official, I am the important one in this situation.\u201d<\/p>\n
