  • 1 lb (450g) shrimp, peeled and deveined (tails on or off)

  • 1 head broccoli, cut into bite-sized florets

  • 1 carrot, thinly sliced (optional, adds crunch)

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil (or any neutral oil)

  • 2 tbsp soy sauce (light or dark)

  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce (rich umami flavor)

  • 1 tsp sesame oil (adds fragrance)

  • ½ tsp black pepper

  • ½ tsp red pepper flakes (optional for heat)

  • 1 tsp cornstarch

  • ÂĽ cup water or chicken broth

  • 1 tsp sugar (balances flavors)

  • Sesame seeds for garnish (optional)


👨‍🍳 Instructions

1. Prep the Shrimp & Vegetables

  • Rinse and pat dry the shrimp.

  • Cut broccoli into florets and slice carrots thinly.

2. Blanch the Broccoli (Optional but recommended)

  • Bring water to a boil, blanch broccoli for 30–45 seconds.

  • Drain and rinse under cold water to preserve color and crunch.

3. Make the Sauce

  • In a bowl, mix:
    soy sauce + oyster sauce + sugar + pepper + cornstarch + water or broth

  • Stir until smooth and set aside.

4. Cook the Shrimp

  • Heat oil in a wok or large pan over medium-high heat.

  • Cook shrimp 1–2 minutes per side until pink and slightly golden.

  • Remove from pan and set aside.

5. Stir-Fry the Vegetables

  • In the same pan, sautĂ© garlic for 30 seconds until fragrant.

  • Add carrots and broccoli. Stir-fry for 1–2 minutes.

6. Combine & Finish

  • Return shrimp to pan.

  • Pour in the sauce, tossing everything to coat.

  • Cook 1–2 minutes until sauce thickens.

7. Final Touch

  • Drizzle with sesame oil.

  • Garnish with sesame seeds if desired.
