In a recent announcement, President Donald Trump suggested that he may be approaching the end of his golfing career. After winning the annual tournament at his Palm Beach County club, where he was nearly assassinated last August, Trump referred to it as “probably my last.”
At the Trump International Golf Club in Palm Beach County, Florida, he expressed his gratitude in a social media post, stating, “I recently won the Golf Club Championship, which will likely be my final one. What a wonderful honor! Tonight is the Awards Dinner at the Club. I would like to thank the amazing golf staff and all the fantastic players who participated in the event. So much fun!” according to the Daily Caller.
The golf course, often seen as the crown jewel of the Trump Organization’s 18 courses worldwide, serves as President Trump’s garden at his Mar-a-Lago residence. Since his inauguration, he has frequently signed executive orders and made impromptu press appearances at the property, often spending weekends there.
The day before the golf event, the White House released images of Trump in golf attire as he monitored a military operation involving American missiles targeting Iran-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen.
Trump’s passion for golf has been a notable aspect of his public persona, providing supporters with a final glimpse of him enjoying his favorite pastime.
According to a recent NBC News poll, more Americans believe the country is moving in the right direction than at any time since 2004, with Trump’s approval rating reaching its highest point during his presidency just three months into his second term.
However, the news isn’t all positive, as Trump has yet to win over a majority of Americans. The NBC poll revealed that 54% of respondents disapprove of his economic management, marking the first time he has lost a majority on this issue.
The New York Post, referencing the NBC survey, noted that voters generally feel Trump is bringing “the right kind of change” on key issues, including tariffs. The poll indicated that 41% of Americans support his trade policy changes, while 38% oppose them.
Additionally, the poll suggests that respondents are giving Trump some leeway regarding inflation, with 40% believing his policies are beneficial, 30% saying they are harmful, and 28% feeling they have no impact.
Trump maintains a strong 90% approval rating among Republicans, but only 4% among Democrats, highlighting his divisive nature. According to NBC, this represents the largest gap in approval ratings between a president’s party and the opposition in the past 80 years.
Overall, Trump’s approval rating stands at 47%, with 51% opposing him. This marks a high point for him, matching his approval ratings prior to the COVID-19 pandemic in early 2020 and again in October 2018.
The Post noted that NBC’s findings align with other polls, with RealClearPolitics showing an average approval rating of 48.2% for Trump.
While Trump’s approval rating is higher than it was at this point in his first term (44%), it still trails behind that of former President Joe Biden (53%).
Encouragingly for Trump, 44% of registered voters believe the nation is headed in the right direction—the highest percentage in 20 years—while 54% think it is going in the wrong direction.
This represents the most optimistic outlook on the nation’s future in the poll since President George W. Bush’s administration two decades ago, despite the overall sentiment still being largely negative.
This marks a significant shift compared to the previous administration, as only 28% of voters surveyed by NBC News in September of last year felt the country was on the right track, while 65% believed it was headed in the wrong direction.
