President Donald Trump revoked the security clearances of former CISA Director Chris Krebs and former DHS official Miles Taylor, while also initiating investigations into their actions during his first term. A Presidential Memorandum issued by Trump specifically addresses Krebs’s access to government clearances and instructs the Department of Justice (DOJ) to investigate potential misconduct during his tenure.
Krebs became a controversial figure after the 2020 presidential election when he dismissed allegations of fraud, asserting that the election was “the most secure in American history.” Trump ultimately fired him for downplaying concerns about the election, labeling him a “fraud” and a “disgrace.”
The White House fact sheet indicated that the memorandum directs federal agencies to revoke any active security clearances held by Krebs and to suspend clearances for individuals associated with him, pending a review. The order also mandates the DOJ to investigate both Krebs and Taylor, who had publicly claimed to lead “the resistance” during Trump’s presidency.
In a related Cabinet meeting, Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard revealed that U.S. intelligence agencies have evidence suggesting that electronic voting systems are vulnerable to hacking and manipulation, emphasizing ongoing investigations into election integrity.
